If you know me well, you know that I adore candles and have candles lit in my home each and everyday. Right now, I am at my desk with a pumpkin candle burning and as the Christmas season quickly approaching, I am waiting with much anticipation to light candles that smell like Christmas trees and cookies. It also brings me such joy to think about a beautifully lit tree in our home, and all the Christmas lights that will be lit up all around the city. As I was looking at the beauty of the glowing flame on my desk, I wondered what the Lord was trying to teach me about light. Christmas is the time of the birth of the Lord where light was used to tell the entire world where Jesus was born and it is so beautiful that we use light in this season to help remind us what the season of Christmas is all about. Here are some beautiful scriptures on light. I hope they encourage you to understand that Jesus is the true light of this world.
"You, O LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light." Psalm 18:28
"Many are asking, "Who can show us any good?" Let the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD." Psalm 4:6
I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them." Isaiah 42:16
"Send forth your light and your truth, let them guide me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell." Psalm 43:3
"Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, O LORD." Psalm 89:15
"He wraps himself in light as with a garment; he stretches out the heavens like a tent." Psalm 104:10
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path." Psalm 119:105
"The people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned." Matthew 4:16
"When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
I Shout Amen!!!! And I Call You Blessed.
