One week week with our baby boys...

Wednesday, January 31, 2018

You guys!!! They are here!!!! Brooks and Ellis joined our family one week ago tonight. I will be blogging separately about their birth story but my water broke at 37 weeks and 3 days and it has been magical ever since.
There are really no words to describe how it feels to give birth. There is NOTHING better, nothing else like it and the last week have created memories that will forever be burned in my heart and my mind for the rest of my life.
At 7:01 our precious Brooks Ezra Davidson was born, weighing 6lbs 12 oz, 20 inches long. One minute later sweet Ellis Class Davidson was born weighing 7lb 2 oz. My heart grew and will never be the same. I am now a momma to FIVE amazing gifts.
The last week has been full of recovery, nursing and baby snuggles. The babies eat every 2.5-3 hours and we set alarms to wake them, but sometimes at night they wake on their own. The are SO SLEEPY! I always forget how sleepy babies are in these early weeks. They sleep in rock n plays in our room and I find myself MISSING them because they sleep so much. Luckily we get so much great bonding and snuggling time nursing, which I treasure so much. Nursing is going great and we could not love these babies more.
I am doing well postpartum, I always forget how hard those first few days getting up and walking after a C-section can be. But I'm on my 6th day of recovery and my pain is minimal, I just have to take it super easy. I gained a total of 49 lbs this pregnancy and it is CRAZY that I have already lost 35 of those lbs! Its SOOOO much extra blood that my body is getting rid of now plus fluid from the babies, and the almost 14 lbs of baby I was carrying!
Jack Henry and Walker have been incredible with them! They love them and are so excited. My precious Hadley girl who is such a little momma and such a sweet girl is having the hardest time adjusting. Its not bad, but she is just not acting her self, and acting out some. I finally got her to open up and she misses me. I spent 4 nights in the hospital and spend most of my day in my room, nursing and napping and recovering from my C-section. She is my little shadow usually and has her grandparents taking care of her mostly right now, so I am really trying to make special time with just the two of us, little moments where we can connect, and I can fill up her love tank.
I am extremely weepy and hormonal which is how I always am after birth. I am literally so euphoric and so sentimental that ANYTHING can set me off. Just looking at Brooks and Ellis does it. Thinking about how fast they grow adds to it, just talking about how blessed I feel with my whole family, and then thinking about my pregnant belly that is no more.... YUP alllllll those thoughts make cry right now.
Our time in the hospital just the babies, Luke and I was truly unforgettable. We spent so much time just talking and being. I am soaking up these days as I know they go so fast and know we will soon be getting into a rhythm but for now, I am just enjoying each moment.

36 Weeks with Brooks and Ellis...

YAY! We made it to 36 weeks (the average birth week for twins) and each day I can keep them in longer, they will be bigger, healthier, better eaters and chances of NICU time will keep decreasing. I have NINE MORE DAYS until my C-section and I am READY!!!! Not ready for babies to come now because I want to give them the best chance at everything, but ready for 9 days to whiz by!

I remember hitting 36 weeks with Jack Henry and Hadley (my first set of twins) and becoming MISERABLE (You can read about that HERE) But this time, I have been feeling SOOOOO good at the end, considering how big and uncomfortable things can get, but I have to say, last night I hit my WALL. I'm officially miserable, uncomfortable around the clock and truly don't know how I am going to finish these last 9 days sometimes.

I had my doctors appointment today and everything looked great, praise the Lord. I looked good and babies looked good. My BP was 131/82 which is high for me but still a good number for carrying twins, Ive gained 45ish lbs (my scale and drs scale are 5 lbs different) and my uterus is measuring 58 WEEKS (That is why I am in such pain)
Brooks and Ellis look great and the doc thinks they will end up being high 6 maybe even 7 lbs.

We are SO BEYOND thankful to the Lord for giving us such a healthy pregnancy. Yes, this has been my hardest one, but to still be carrying these healthy babies with no bed rest is a true gift. Sweet boys, I would do ANYTHING for you, carrying you is a true joy even when it seems impossible.

35 weeks with Brooks and Ellis...

Friday, January 12, 2018

I am 35+5 today and everything is going great!! I am seriously amazing how well I am handling all of the discomfort... It has NOT been that bad!!! I'm not sure if its because I have done this before or if I am so busy with my other little ones, but I'm not "over it" yet and am honestly enjoying this so much. My belly has become HUGE, I have some swelling in the bottom of my belly and if im on my feet too much by the end of the day a few times, my feet have become a little swollen. I have tight Braxton Hicks contractions here and there but nothing patterned and nothing painful. I had a small amount of bleeding this morning but my doc just says its from my cervix softening and as long as theres not a lot of blood, I should be just fine. It scared me when I first saw it because I want to keep these babies in, especially past this weekend as my husband and is awesome team are launching the new campus with our Church. We are SO EXCITED! Im pretty sure they will stay put and if they don't, we will figure it out :)
Only 16 days to go! I am sleeping well still thanks to that amazing pregnancy pillow and after another tachycardia episode from Benadryl (I thought I was taking unisom) which was SO SCARY, I am feeling much better!
So for now, I'm resting as much as I can and drinking as much water as possible to hopefully keep these precious ones inside until the 29th.
Here I am at 35 weeks measuring 55 weeks!!!

34 Weeks with Brooks and Ellis...

Friday, January 5, 2018

We are at 34 weeks!! Whoo hoo!!! I'm 34+5 today so 3 weeks and 2 days until our scheduled C-section. I hope I can get them all the way there! Honestly the end of this pregnancy has not been as brutal as the end of my first twin pregnancy, I guess its because my body has done it before, or its just flying by so much because I stay so busy with my other three. I have an AWFUL and PAINFUL sinus infection which has been worse than the discomforts of the pregnancy. Last night my ears were POPPING with PAINFUL pressure. SO not fun, but I had my OB appointment today and he called me some antibiotics which I desperately need.

We are so thankful to God for another great and uneventful appointment.

Blood pressure was good at 130/70 (higher than my baseline but still great for twins this far)

I am 34 weeks, uterus measuring 52 weeks!!!!!

Placentas and babies look great. Brooks (baby A) is head down And Ellis (baby B) is breach.

Ive gained 41 lbs so far.

I had a little swelling in my feet and toes last night but it was gone this morning. Hoping to keep that at bay. We are so excited to meet these angel babes but need to keep them in there another 3 weeks! We want big and healthy babies!
