Sectional Love

Monday, November 15, 2010

Luke and I have really been wanting a sectional lately! We love to cuddle up together to watch a movie and we never can because we can't both fit on our sofa. We have a great sofa that I bought from my sister in law for hardly anything and it has been such a blessing for us! However with that one sofa which sits 2-3 MAX and an oversized chair, we can only have 1 or 2 people over comfortably. Being a ministers wife, I have such a strong desire to have lots of people over to entertain and be able to provide adequate seating for such events. Although, until I find a nursing job, we will still be in our precious condo which is too snug to have any number of people over. So there is no rush for a new sofa, but my eyes are open for a deep sofa or sectional at a really good price. Here are some sectionals that I LOVE. I just need them to go on sale :)

Light of the World

Wednesday, November 10, 2010

If you know me well, you know that I adore candles and have candles lit in my home each and everyday. Right now, I am at my desk with a pumpkin candle burning and as the Christmas season quickly approaching, I am waiting with much anticipation to light candles that smell like Christmas trees and cookies. It also brings me such joy to think about a beautifully lit tree in our home, and all the Christmas lights that will be lit up all around the city. As I was looking at the beauty of the glowing flame on my desk, I wondered what the Lord was trying to teach me about light. Christmas is the time of the birth of the Lord where light was used to tell the entire world where Jesus was born and it is so beautiful that we use light in this season to help remind us what the season of Christmas is all about. Here are some beautiful scriptures on light. I hope they encourage you to understand that Jesus is the true light of this world.

"You, O LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light." Psalm 18:28

"Many are asking, "Who can show us any good?" Let the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD." Psalm 4:6

I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them." Isaiah 42:16

"Send forth your light and your truth, let them guide me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell." Psalm 43:3

"Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, O LORD." Psalm 89:15

"He wraps himself in light as with a garment; he stretches out the heavens like a tent." Psalm 104:10

"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path." Psalm 119:105

"The people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned." Matthew 4:16

"When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12

They are the new precious additions to my parents home! They adopted them from an animal shelter and they are two sweet and energetic, 3 month old brothers!

They are two sweet little blessings that we already love!!! I know it was soon to get them after Rudy's recent passing, but it has helped so much to not have an empty home! A house is not a home with out a cat!

Sweet Rudy

Wednesday, November 3, 2010

Today is a very sad day for my family as my parents had to put our sweet cat to sleep.

Rudy was 10 years old which is a little hard to accept as our first cat lived to be 21 years old. But we are at peace with this decision because Rudy had been loosing lots of weight, and we took him to the vet 2 weeks ago and he was diagnosed with Diabetes. My mom took him in this morning for a blood sugar check, since he was still adjusting to his insulin (wasn't adjusting well) and they said he had a fever and needed antibiotics. As Rudy's health was declining, we decided prolonging his life wasn't good for Rudy and keeping him alive would only be financially draining and cruel to him. I was in the 7th grade when we got Rudy, he was just 4 weeks old. He was so sweet and tiny! He was actually too young to be away from his mother so he would suck on your ear as a kitten as if he was nursing! Now I have been married 2 and half years and have fond memories of sweet Rudy and will miss him dearly. Please keep my family in your prayers, especially my Mom. They had a special bond and it was extremely sad for her to make this choice. We are all saddened, however, we do understand that he is "just a cat" and loosing a pet is a small sadness in this world where people are loosing people. Here are some sweet memories of Rudy...

Rudy loved to climb in the Christmas tree!
Luke and Rudy had a special bond :) When Luke and I started dating at the age of 16, Luke gave Rudy the nick name "Rudy Booty"
Rudy in the Fresh Market bag.
Psalm 30:5
Weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.

We praise the Lord for the blessing Rudy was to our family, and for the joy he brought us!  Rudy, Roodles, Roodaly Tootums, Bee-see, Rude boy, Rootums...you are loved and will be missed.

Vote

Tuesday, November 2, 2010

I have always had an interest in politics, and it pains me this year to say that I am not voting. Not because I don't want to, but because of the timing of our move to a new state, we were too late to register, and having lived in Louisville, Ky up until 2 months ago, I am so sad that I won't be able to vote for the candidates I was passionate about voting for! If you live in Louisville, in honor of me :) please vote for...

He is a highly qualified man of integrity that is going to bring Louisville a lot of positive change! And people all through out this nation, please vote....

Our country is in a really scary place right now, and we need to have control of the House and Senate again! We need to gain 10 seats to have a Senate majority!

Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper." Jeremiah 29:7

November 1st

Monday, November 1, 2010

"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18.

What a beautiful scripture that God has really laid on my heart recently. This speaks to me in such a powerful way and my desire is to live this way always. I LOVE the month of November and I hope this November as you reflect on your blessings of thanksgiving you will keep this verse in mind. It is such a beautiful freedom that we have in Christ, and to live Joyfully is such a way of life that Jesus has called upon us. I am so very very thankful and this month I will be reflecting on all my many blessings! I love the start of a new month, especially since this is the start of the Holiday Season... Here is what I am looking forward to in this month of November...
